Many kind off daphnia. but not all can our breed for feed fish. only several kind of that. can we breed that is
daphnia magna, moina , bosmoina and ceriodaphnia dubia. that animal included in genus arthopoda, class crustasea
Daphnia many use for baby fish feed such as betta fish or guppy fish. daphnia magna have a protein contains till 66 % and fat 6% . So this feed is really match for growing baby fish. we can find that daphnia in pool off fish or puddle water. but in rain weather so hard to find that. because so many predator and acidic liquid from rain will kill many of that.

Proces cultivation
To cultivating a daphnia and moina we do that same. because their habitats and feed is relative same. then we must getting seed of daphnia or moina. we can search from the nature or buy that in Balai Benih Ikan Air Tawar (BBAT).

Daphnia in the nature usually in cluster and form group. that color is red and brown. For small scale we can use media for habitat of daphnia such as : small pool, aquarium, fiber container or acrylic. the most important that is must have to accommodate 7 liter water. But if we want getting more we can use : big pool or cement pool with accommodae 20 liter water.
after we have media for cultivation we can do this several step.
1. Dry the bottom of the pond first by drying it for 2-3 days. Then do calcification at a dose of 1-2 kg / m2.
2.Then add fertilizer to grow plankton feed as daphnia and moina food. The type can be manure, such as 2 kg / m2 of chicken manure. Leave for 3-5 days.
3.Gather the pool with 30 cm of clean water and let it sit again for 2-4 days. Pool water will turn greenish brown. This color is a sign of plankton and other microscopic plants that have developed in the pond. 4. The pool is ready to be scattered with daphnia and moina seeds. In one week there will be a reddish color on the surface of the pool. This indicates that water fleas have developed. 5. Aquatic infestation will peak after 7-11 days. Harvesting is done by taking water lice with fine nets.
